Over the past several years, our firm has invested nearly $150,000 on a technology infrastructure and our long-term plan is to continue this strategic use of technology. High-speed local and wide-area networks, high-end computers, iPhones with integrated billing and case management software platforms, multiple external micro web sites, and centralized and remote terminal servers are all in place —making Babcock Partners one of the most technically integrated boutique litigation firms, with services available 24/7, in our state. Our lawyers and support staff are continually developing new and innovative ways to use technology to enhance our practice and improve client service. We also train the firm’s employees as needed to adjust and customize our systems as necessary.
Flexible billing system
We at BabcockPartners are also on the cutting edge of electronic billing. In the legal industry, this practice has been developed largely as a result of the demand by insurance companies and corporations for a more efficient method of handling the many legal invoices processed each month. We offer our Fortune 500 clients the following electronic billing options: LEDES (Legal Electronic Data Exchange Standard), Legalgard®, Examen®, PeerPoint/PWC®, NationWide®, and Bristol-Myers Squibb®. If a client prefers a particular billing format, we are happy to adapt to it. We have even accepted PayPal, Visa, MasterCark, and American Express. Whatever works for you and your company can work for us.
Integrated services
Several years ago, Babcock Partners was the second firm in the city to install a high-end networked litigation management software system to support the hundreds of litigation tasks that we accomplish every day and to manage the computerized database of firm documents, library resources, and business intelligence.
The next year, we installed a suite of networked evidence and trial preparation software by LexisNexis. CaseMap, TimeMap, TextMap, and NoteMap are all tools included in this suite, allowing our people to organize complex, multiparty litigation as well as the thousands of documents that must be available to us on a moment’s notice.
The distribution of documents for complex litigation can be time-consuming and inefficient. The firm has therefore implemented paperless litigation management protocols to store documents in one database that is Web accessible by all parties. This technology reduces our dependence on Federal Express® package delivery, e-mail attachments, faxes, and other documents. In other words, our improved processes save us time and save our clients money. The efficiencies realized in the automation of cases and in the ability to work online—efficiencies that range from reducing photocopy costs to creating electronic witness and issue binders to increasing the portability of large volumes of documents—apply to cases of all sizes.
