Peggy Rowe
Lake Charles, LA
Client Description:
Automobile Accident

Year: 2009
Jury Verdict: Approximately: $550,000 Protecting an Accident Victin's Rights—When Other Lawyers Hadn't

After she was rearended by a commercial truck, Peggy Rowe suffered debilitating injuries for which her doctor recommended surgery. However, her insurance company deemed the operation unnecessary and consequently denied coverage. Because Ms. Rowe could not afford the procedure on her own, she was unable to pursue treatment. Unfortunately, at the time, her two previous lawyers—eager to avoid a fullscale jury trial—made an agreement with the court and the insurance company to cap the value of the case at $50,000, far less than Babcock Partners believed it was worth. She then fired those two lawyers and retained Babcock Partners. As our record has proven time and time again, our attorneys view courtrooms as something of a second home and never shy away from trial when our client’s rights are at stake. We filed a motion with the court to dissolve the previous lawyers’ agreement that had valued the case at a mere $50,000. We then immersed ourselves in the matter and uncovered much that Ms. Rowe’s earlier attorneys had missed. Our team then immediately set the matter for trial. After three days, a jury in Lake Charles, Louisiana awarded Ms. Rowe every single dime that we asked for—and that she so rightly deserved: $549,818.93 with interest.
