For years, Stephen Babcock has been immersed in numerous community activities—an indication of his deep roots in the state and untiring commitment to bettering the lives of its residents. Among other things, he has proved himself to be an enormously effective fundraiser in the name of the many causes he supports, personally raising over $1,000,000 dollars in the Baton Rouge community for non-profits. In 2009, he served on the nominating committee for the Capital Area United Way’s Board of Directors. In 2008, he was also selected as one of the “Fifty for the Future” for the Capital Area United Way, which additionally honored him for being its top participant that year. In 2008, Mr. Babcock served as the Governmental Division Chairperson on the Cabinet for the Capital Area United Way. The previous year, Mr. Babcock was a member of the Executive Board of Directors for the Istrouma Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In 2007, Mr. Babcock also served as the chairperson of the Friends of Scouting Campaign – in which he was the most successful fundraising chairperson in the history of the organization, raising over $600,000 and starting a new annual luncheon for the organization.
From 2004-2008, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. From 2005-2007, he also served on the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, and in 2004 was the Vice Chairperson of the Government Affairs Committee of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. That same year, he served as the Chairperson of the inaugural Baton Rouge Classic Golf Tournament.
Forum 35
In 2003, Stephen Babcock was the Vice President of Development for Forum 35, where he distinguished himself as the single most successful fundraising chairperson in the organization’s history. From 2002-2005, Mr. Babcock served on the Forum 35 Board of Directors, and was on the group’s Executive Committee from 2003-2005. He was the Vice President of Corporate Membership for Forum 35 in 2004.
Viva il Vino! Wine Gala
In 2002, Stephen Babcock served as the chairperson of the Viva il Vino! Wine Gala.
Ducks Unlimited
Between 2003-2010, Stephen babcock was the chairperson of the Baton Rouge Ducks Unlimited Sponsors’ Banquet.
Louisiana Peach Festival Parade
In 1993, Stephen Babcock served as the chairperson of the Louisiana Peach Festival Parade in Ruston, LA.
